I have lost the name tag for this shell during a recent move and cannot find any references to it any help would be grateful.

Hi jason,

perhaps someone can identify the species at first glance, but for me it would help a lot to know the hight of the shell and (even more important) to have a "front view", i.e. to see the aperture (= opening).

Try Drupa ricina, although I agree with Wolfi an aperture photo will probably prove me to be way off. Check out Hardy's web sight Gastropods.com

I have updated the images and it is about 22.7mm

This is Drupa ricinus, somewhat immature as indicated by the rather thin outer lip. At this age they have not developed the colored spots around the aperture that are present in fully mature specimens.

Must be a very calm water specimen? Mine all have the dorsal spines eroded.
