need ID - jason123 - 11-07-2015 I have lost the name tag for this shell during a recent move and cannot find any references to it any help would be grateful. RE: need ID - wolfi - 11-07-2015 Hi jason, perhaps someone can identify the species at first glance, but for me it would help a lot to know the hight of the shell and (even more important) to have a "front view", i.e. to see the aperture (= opening). Kind regards: wolf RE: need ID - Orepaul87 - 11-07-2015 Try Drupa ricina, although I agree with Wolfi an aperture photo will probably prove me to be way off. Doesn't fit as juvenile. RE: need ID - paul monfils - 11-08-2015 This is Drupa ricinus, somewhat immature as indicated by the rather thin outer lip. At this age they have not developed the colored spots around the aperture that are present in fully mature specimens. RE: need ID - Orepaul87 - 11-08-2015 Must be a very calm water specimen? Mine all have the dorsal spines eroded. |
