Wanted: Confirmation on shell identification from Nova Scotia
S. costata ranges from Eastern Canada to New Jersey. I have collected them in northern Massachusetts. Â Actually, my first thought when I saw these was that they were a species of Gari or Tagelus, in the family Sanguinolariidae (Gariidae). Â However, I don't know of any members of that group that range that far north, so I went with Siliqua. Â You can confirm this by looking at the interior of the shell. Siliqua has a sort of raised rib running across the interior of the shell, from the hinge area to the opposite side. Â If these don't have it, we'll have to take another look at Gariidae.
