I'd like to add few details to the information above ...

#1. I believe this is Anachis (Costoanachis) sparsa (Reeve, 1859)

#3. Zafrona pulchella (Blainville, 1829)

#4. I don't think this is a Mitrella. I believe it is Nitidella (Rhombinella) laevigata (Linne., 1758) It's an unusual pattern but the pattern is very variable in this species.

#6. Olivella sp. Not a good angle of view for ID. Based on the apparent "plumpness" of the shell, perhaps Olivella mutica (Say, 1822)

#7. I'll have to disagree with Dave on this one. This doesn't have the right shape or sculpture for Cypraecassis. In fact, it doesn't resemble any of the small Caribbean Cassidae. Therefore I believe it is a small juvenile of one of the large Caribbean Cassis species. There is only one Caribbean Cassidae that has dark spots on the underside of the lip, and that's Cassis tuberosa. Therefore I'm betting this is a small juvenile Cassis tuberosa.

#9. Mystery! This sure looks like a Pusia (Mitridae), but I have gone through everything I've got, plus several online sites, and I can't find anything like it. Are you sure this is Caribbean?

A book I find very helpful with Caribbean shells is Bahamian Seashells by Colin Redfern (subtitled "A Thousand Species from Abaco, Bahamas"). --Last edited by Paul Monfils on 2009-06-12 05:39:06 --

Paul I have to agree with you. On taking a second look at the Cassis, #7, it does look more like a juve. Cassis species. I am not familiar with juveniles of this genus and did not realise that juveniles have the teeth in the aperture, unlike cowries for example.
Regarding #4, yes it was the pattern that threw me, I have not seen N. laevigata looking like this but I do have a picture of Mitrella dichroa which looks very similar.
I bow to Pauls superior knowlege.
As to #9, I agree, is it really a Caribbean species? I also looked at everything I have and could find nothing similar, I even looked at Turrids!

Thanks a lot to all of you,100% SURE I got this shell diving approx 30 ft last week ,it is still in my fridge,I got it alive .
Where I dive in the North of the DR it is not the carribbean sea but the Atlantic ocean (the Cassis Madagascarensis for instance do not exist here but do in the south of the island).May be we should not concentrate in the Carribbean...
I don't know,I found I think a few of these shells dead and they turn brownish with white lines...is this possible?

Yes! Actually I can't decide between Pilsbryspira albomaculata and Pilsbryspira albocincta, but I think you got it!
