A piece of an unknown cone
Hello,
Sadly I found this part of a cone shell in Mauritius but I cannot identify it. It was in a sandy area about 20m deep.

Can somebody tell me what specie it could belong?
The piece is 60mm long, the full shell was perhaps 70mm.

Thank you,
Conchylinet.

This appears to be a piece of a Conus janus, a species common in that area and extremely variable in color and pattern.

Thanks a lot Paul. Your id match. It is a piece of C. janus. Cheers. Pierre.
