Small Cypraea

Hi...

I'm looking for small cowries.
I need them small, between 12 and 17mm from tip to tip,
and as white as possible on the "open side".
The ones that we have, was imported more than 50 years ago,
and I haven't been able to find some today.
I have been through Ebay, and all the stores I could find on the
internet. I have bought some, but on arrival, they have allmost
everytime been larger than promised in the adds.
Anyone that can help me, where I can get some ?
I need a lot, between 2 and 3000 pcs.

That is beautiful work Kim! What you are after are called  Gold-ringed Cowries, <i>Cypraea annulus</i>, they should be freely available from most shell and hobbyists stores. If you can't get them from one of the hundreds of shell dealers on the net I would suggest you try some Art and Craft shops. I can see why you would want them that particular size and that is generally the size range of C. annulus. I  would try some of the Philippine dealers as a lot do sell wholesale and that is the kind of numbers you require. Good luck,

I have tried that... But they are all bigger. Often 3/4" or bigger. Haven't found them smaller yet.
Someone recommended, that I went to Germany, to the ANNUAL GERMAN SHELL FAIR in Oehringen, Germany in september, but I don't know if it's worth tha travel. I got about 800km to drive to get there <img src="images/smiley/smile.gif" alt="" border="0" />
