Need help identifying shell
Found this shell while walking on fort Myers beach, and I can't seem to be able to find anything on it.

RE: Need help identifying shell
This is a fragment of a broken sea urchin shell (often called a sea urchin "test"). They are quite fragile, composed of multiple segments which usually break apart after the animal dies. In life, a slender spine is attached to each of the little bumps on the test. They belong to an animal phylum called "echinoderms". Here is a picture of a complete test and a half test: http://faculty.orangecoastcollege.edu/mp...derm3.html (Note that "echinoderm" is misspelled on this posting.)
