Cleaning biro of a shell?!
*off not of..but who cares

Hello!

Is there any way of cleaning biro marks/smudges of a shell? Maybe it doesn't make a difference what kind of shell it is, but it's one of these http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LokBYOSE_SE/TX...l_pink.jpg ..

I hope someone can help! It's stupid but someone important to me gave it to me and it's the only physical thing that I have to associate with them. As I am writing this, I am feeling more and more stupid, but anyway..

I hope you shell experts have some ideas Smile

RE: Cleaning biro of a shell?!
Hello,

Your shell looks already pretty. This kind of shell (auger) can be cleaned with bleach. Please read this page :

Bleach only removes non mineral stuff like periostracum etc..

When the shell is cleaned, you shall use mineral oil and this will make your shell really shiny.

Cheers,
DAVID

oops. Accidentally replied nothing to your post..!

Thank you David for your reply.

I had a look at that actually, but it didn't answer whether biro ink can be cleaned of the shell - probably not..
Also, that isn't my shell - it is just a random image I got from the internet to show what type of shell it was!
