Identification of some Kenya Shells
Hello shell collector
In the picture below you can see some shells which I found at one of Kenya’s beaches. Could you help me identifying them? Thank you for your help. --Last edited by shell collector de on 2007-07-08 13:53:55 -- |

Identification of some Kenya Shells
Hello,
Dear Collector, Welcome on the forum. I can help you only for one shell. The cowrie shell (Shell D). Itseems to be an old washed specimen ofCypraea chinensis. Of course when live or fresh dead the shell looks very different. Type "Cypraea chinensis"on google and look for pictures to have an idea of it's real looking. Paul might help you with the others. Regards, DAvid |

Identification of some Kenya Shells
A. Trochidae, probably Monodonta sp.
B. This is a land snail, probably Tropidophora sp. C. unknown (Mactridae?) D. As David said, Cypraea chinensis E. Lyrocardium lyratum F. Pyramidella acus G. Vexillum sp., similar to some forms of Vexillum exasperatum, but I am not sure of the species. H. unknown - almost certainly a small juvenile of a larger species I. Conus miliaris |
