Re: buccinidae
1.  Probably a worn and faded Engina bonasia I think.

2.  The one on the left resembles a few species - Engina alveolata, Engina fusiformis, and interestingly, a member of a different family, Morula parva.  The color tends to match the latter two species, but the sculpture matches Engina alveolata very well, so that's my choice.  The yellow areas are more red in fresh specimens, but I think this one is faded.
The shell on the right appears to be a Cantharus or Pollia.  The coloration suggests Cantharus (Pollia) wagneri but it could also be a color form of Cantharus fumosus.

3.  Engina bonasia

4.  Beautiful shell, but I can't place it.  I think it may be Muricidae though rather than Buccinidae.

5.  These look like Anachis, but I can't place the species.

Re: buccinidae
Hello Paul & Dave,
          1. its engina bonasia indeed and yes its a beach shell.

          2.  i go for e. alveolata. i already have this specie, but it is small than this broken one, and the coloration are different.
              the other broken one, i dont think its c. wagneri, i did not find a photo of c. fumosus, so im gonna search for it. ( i think this specie is a phos specie too )

        3. engina bonasia yes indeed, and one of my favorite collected specie. it has a fascinating beauty. THANK YOU for naming it for me.

        4. i go for Dave suggestion,  i think it is really a phos specie, but still no id. i hope with a lot of collectors out there they can help me find this specie name.

        5. anachis ? may i ask what family does this belong ? its my first time to encounter this specie name. thanks

          Diocris.

Re: buccinidae
In Poppe's Philippine Marine Mollusks, Volume II, plate 319, there is a dark colored Phos cyanostoma.  Last night I did compare that one to your specimen, but couldn't convince myself they are the same.

Anachis is a genus in Columbellidae.  <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.conchology.be/?t=65&family=COLUMBELLIDAE&species=Anachis&locality=">http://www.conchology.be/?t=65&family=C ... &locality=</a><!-- m -->

Re: buccinidae
Hello Paul,
              it is so difficult to determine this specie, i also dont think it is phos cyanostoma. here,s what i found and i ask your opinion if this is more similar to this specie,
here is the link :

                          <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.gastropods.com/3/Shell_3203.shtml">http://www.gastropods.com/3/Shell_3203.shtml</a><!-- m -->

              this anachis is i doubt too, because of its strong columellar tooth. it seems it has a costellariidae features, so ive search it in this family, and look what i found, it seems look like this. here are the links :

                          <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.gastropods.com/5/Shell_1955.shtml">http://www.gastropods.com/5/Shell_1955.shtml</a><!-- m -->
                          <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.gastropods.com/1/Shell_8351.shtml">http://www.gastropods.com/1/Shell_8351.shtml</a><!-- m -->

but still i dont think they are similar to my specie, your opinion is most needed please,

Re: buccinidae
Hi Diocris,

I have a number of Phos textum, and they really don't look like your shell.  They do look like the top several images on the site you linked.  There is a dark colored specimen shown near the bottom, which somewhat resembles your shell, but I don't think it's a match.  Also, that shell is so different from typical P. textum that I doubt it is that species (?)

The little dark shell could certainly be a Vexillum.  The columellar denticles don't necessarily exclude Anachis, as some Anachis species do have such "teeth".  I'm still open to either possibility.  Vexillum albocinctum does resemble your shell (except for the white band that gives it its name) - but it's a Caribbean species.  Yours is from the Philippines, correct?  Vexillum ficulinum is a widespread Indo-Pacific species that might occur in the Philippines (not sure), but its sculpture is quite different from your shell.

Re: buccinidae
Hello Paul,

  i also have a lot of p.textum that is why i did not consider it as textum, but when i saw the bottom  picture on the link that i gave, i ask your opinion about it. and as you said you doubt it too. now i dont have any options on how to classify it.
is there a group or a cell in this forum who could help us determine if it is a new or even say its a form of a specie ? i want this question to post  in general discussion,but i had to ask it now for this topic.

  - the small dark shell...  yes i found it in a small, well known tourist island here in the Philippines.....and  i already transfer it in the costellariidae family, cause it seems it is more belong to this family. i hope you will second that decision...... but still the label has no specie name.
