RE: cone shell
Hi jason123,
I don't know much about Conidae, but there is a special variety of Conus marmoreus: C. marmoreus "orange". This variety seems to be endemic to Pine Island, New Caledonia.
Have a nice time: wolf

I agree the pattern is conus pennaceus but the general shape is wrong.

RE: cone shell
Hello !

I personnaly, like Paul, think that is could be a Conus pennaceus. Jason, the shape can be related to pennaceus also. This shape can be seen in pennaceus ganensis or the one I find in the Seychelles. The problem is the data... impossible to confirm the origin if you did not collected the shell by yourself jason... It is certainly not Conus marmoreus nor bandanus.

(sorry not to be present that much on the forum...)

Happy Shelling,
DAVID

RE: cone shell
I have a Conus penanceus from Hawaii collected by a person I trust, the shape of which matches yours. (not quite twins but very close)

Forum has been silent lately, good to see some new activity.
