RE: Sea Shells At the Local Auction What Do I Have
Hello ShellSurfer,

Well, looks like wolf got here first, but since I made up a list I might as well post it. It will be the same as wolf's list in most cases, maybe a few different. Also, he used some of the more specific genera, like those in the family Cypraeidae, while I just used the broader genera like Cypraea. Having both may help you find more information. As he said, it is rather difficult to attach a name to each image because the images are rather spread around. So I haven't attempted to do that. If you look up a name, from his list or mine, you will find pictures which will allow you to identify the shell that gets that name. So here's my list:

Charonia tritonis (juvenile)
Cypraea mauritiana
Conus litteratus
Terebra maculata
Casmaria erinaceus
Natica lineata
Cypraea caputserpentis (3 specimens, very worn)
Cypraea caputserpentis (1 specimen, slightly smaller, good condition)
Cypraea mappa
Turbo petholatus - or - Turbo reevei (both are quite variable, especially T. reevei)
Melongena corona
Cypraea argus
Cypraea scurra
Clanculus puniceus
Jenneria pustulata
Cypraea carneola
Fasciolaria tulipa (juvenile)
Murex (Haustellum) haustellum
Olivancillaria gibbosa
Mitra mitra
Amphidromus chloris (yellow land snail)
cowfish (there are many species and this isn't my area)
