I had to look up a map of Mauritius!  Big Grin  Strombus gigas is to the best of my knowledge a Carribean species.  I agree that this is a juvenile Strombidae, but I'm inclined to think it's one  of the Lambis species. Sorry I don't knom which ones will be found in the western Indian Ocean!
