A better photo and request for identification
I believe Dave meant to say the third shell is Mya arenaria.  This and the Spisula are both marine species.  Mya arenaria is also abundant in the eastern United States, where I live.  It is a commercially important species here.  The second one however, with the black flaky periostracum, is a fresh water species.  I am not sure of the species.  <span class="petit">--Last edited by Paul Monfils on 2010-08-05 19:52:23 --</span>
