3 shells from Mauritius (indopacific)
Hello,
Any help is welcome with these shells from Mauritius (south-west Indian Ocean). <img src="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/5634.JPG" alt="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/5634.JPG" style="border:0" /> 13.5 mm <img src="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/5636.JPG" alt="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/5636.JPG" style="border:0" /> 49 mm <img src="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/5638.JPG" alt="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/5638.JPG" style="border:0" /> Very light Tellinid (not T.palatum), 31 mm Thanks, Pierre |

1. Isn't it the well known Polinices tumidus (Swainson, 1840) ?
3. The closest I could get by browsing the internet is Macoma cygnus (Hanley, 1844). That shell could even be a species of Semelidae instead of Tellinidae. It depends on the presence of the internal ligament in the hinge, which isn't quite visible in this picture. Â <span class="petit">--Last edited by mikede on 2010-03-16 18:37:20 --</span> |
