another unknown shell - dave r - 06-17-2009

To me it looks like a member of the family Colubrariidae but it is hard to say which species as the photo is a little pale.

Hi,
I have no idea of what could be the specie below neither can I determine its family.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<img src="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/4651.JPG" alt="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/4651.JPG" style="border:0" />

It is from Mauritius and is 26mm long.

Thank you a lot Dave !

I think you pointed the right family and I could find matching species to be either <i>Colubraria nitidula</i> (Sowerby, 1833) or <i>Colubraria ceylonensis</i> (Sowerby, 1833).

I agree the picture is not very good, but so is the quality of the shell.
