volutes? - wil9000 - 05-06-2009 I have two shells that I am having trouble identifying. Can anyone help? Â The second is not a volute but a Melongena. Â Either Melongena patula from west Central America or Melongena melongena from the Caribbean side. Â The two are quite similar, especially as they get larger. Â The juveniles of the two species are much easier to distinguish.
