Identification - paul monfils - 03-26-2009 Left:  Bullmouth Helmet Shell, Cypraecassis rufa Right: Bear Paw Clam, Hippopus hippopus Both are common species throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific region from Japan to eastern Africa.  The Cypraecassis is one of the species cameos are carved from.  The Hippopus is in the Giant Clam Family, the same family as the huge 3 to 4 foot clams you see in the movies.
