Identification - paul monfils - 03-26-2009 Left: Â Bullmouth Helmet Shell, Cypraecassis rufa Right: Bear Paw Clam, Hippopus hippopus Both are common species throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific region from Japan to eastern Africa. Â The Cypraecassis is one of the species cameos are carved from. Â The Hippopus is in the Giant Clam Family, the same family as the huge 3 to 4 foot clams you see in the movies. Identification - petere - 03-26-2009 Can anyone identify these shells please? Â I know very little about shells, these were found in a relation's house. Â It would also be interesting to know where they might come from. <a href="http://www.stratfordbeekeepers.homecall.co.uk/IMG_2314.JPG" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.stratfordbeekeepers.homecall.co.uk/IMG_2314.JPG">http://www.stratfordbeekeepers.homecall ...
