A piece of an unknown cone - conchylinet - 02-15-2009 Hello, Sadly I found this part of a cone shell in Mauritius but I cannot identify it. It was in a sandy area about 20m deep. Can somebody tell me what specie it could belong? The piece is 60mm long, the full shell was perhaps 70mm. <img src="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/50849.JPG" alt="http://www.conchylinet.com/Images/Misc/50849.JPG" style="border:0" /> Thank you, Conchylinet. A piece of an unknown cone - paul monfils - 02-15-2009 This appears to be a piece of a Conus janus, a species common in that area and extremely variable in color and pattern. A piece of an unknown cone - conchylinet - 02-16-2009 Thanks a lot Paul. Your id match. It is a piece of C. janus. Cheers. Pierre. |
