Land snail from Cuba - rafa - 02-02-2009

I send this land snail from Las Calaveras Beach near Varadero (Cuba). I don't have idea Wich speccie could be. Can you help me please. Thanks.

Land snail from Cuba - paul monfils - 02-02-2009

This appears to be a juvenile Cerion.  Initially the shell grows in an expanding spiral, like a trochid - which is what you have here - but the later whorls are all the same diameter, so the mature shell is cylindrical in shape.  This specimen has just the first few whorls.  There are many Cerion species/forms, many of which can be difficult to identify even when fully mature, so I can't venture a guess as to the species.
