Please identify these two "arabica" - shellhunk - 06-30-2007 Hi! I'm not sure if this is a cypraea eglantina or arabica. It says eglantina but the base is very different with few very dark spots on the margins and dark base. I find it unique. 62mm from palawan Philippines. I used a cellphone camera to take the pictures. The color is actually dark brown. <a href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779270" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779270">http://www.badongo.com/pic/779270</a><!-- m --></a> <a href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779278" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779278">http://www.badongo.com/pic/779278</a><!-- m --></a> <a href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779279" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779279">http://www.badongo.com/pic/779279</a><!-- m --></a> <a href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779282" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779282">http://www.badongo.com/pic/779282</a><!-- m --></a> Also please help me identify this one. 43mm from the Philippines. <a href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779284" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779284">http://www.badongo.com/pic/779284</a><!-- m --></a> <a href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779285" target="_blank"><!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.badongo.com/pic/779285">http://www.badongo.com/pic/779285</a><!-- m --></a> Please identify these two "arabica" - david touitou - 07-06-2007 Hello ! The second one is a <i>Cypraea arabica </i>for me. The base is typically flat and colored. The first one is difficult to say as it is subadult. it looks more like an <i>arabica</i> for me, but I am not sure ! Remember that arabica cowrie can be easily distinguished from <i>histrio</i> and <i>eglantina</i> by its base. <i>arabica</i> has always a flat base. regards, DAVID Â <img src="images/smiley/roi.gif" alt="" border="0" /> Â <span class="petit">--Last edited by David Touitou on 2007-07-06 22:12:01 --</span> Please identify these two "arabica" - shellhunk - 07-07-2007 Hi David, Thank you so much for your help.
