I really don´t know . Help please - paul monfils - 06-09-2008

This is a land snail. It looks like a Drymaeus, perhaps Drymaeus virgulatus but I am not certain about the species.

but if I founded at the beach, how could be a landsnail?

Snails like this often live in grass just above high tide level. Because the shell is thin and lightweight, once it is empty it can easily be blown down onto the beach by wind. Also, land snails frequently live close to fresh water streams. If they fall in, they float, and can be carried downstream to the ocean and then wash ashore. I have seen a few Xenophora (carrier shells) that had a landsnail or at least a piece of a landsnail attached. --Last edited by Paul Monfils on 2008-06-13 23:47:29 --
