Need ID (Gena varia ?) - giovanni arusha - 03-17-2008 Hi, can anybody ID this shell? Is it a Gena varia? I got it in Zanzibar (Tanzania): it is about 1.5 cm in size. Please need Latin and English names. Many thanks in advance, Giovanni Need ID (Gena varia ?) - paul monfils - 03-18-2008 Not sure what trochid species it is, but it certainly is not in the genus Gena. Gena are open-coiled shells, resembling tiny Haliotis (without the holes). Need ID (Gena varia ?) - giovanni arusha - 03-18-2008 Please need help on this one... I am really stuck ! What do you think? Thanks, Giovanni Need ID (Gena varia ?) - dave r - 03-22-2008 Could be a juvenile I suppose but the periphery seems too pronounced. I have several specimens of this shell but none have such a sharp edge. |
