Seeking advice on selling collection - sue - 11-20-2009 Greetings from Central NYS... A dear friend died recently leaving me her shell collection.  I have no space for display and too many involvements to mount a new hobby.  Hence, I plan to put the collection up for sale.  There are about 300 carefully preserved shells in this collection.  Most of the collection was from the 1970’s.  My friend had cataloged them like this: 82.  Murex pomum,  W. Atlantic Ocean 115.  Strombus aratum, Thailand I realize that an accurate appraisal requires hands-on inspection.  I’m looking for advice.  I don’t believe there are any shell groups in the Syracuse, NY area and have not found any individual with shell expertise. I also have several of her books on shell identification. I have made a PDF file of the inventory, which I would be glad to email to anyone who can give me guidance. Thank you!
