Meretrix lyrata? - Emma - 01-31-2013 Hi! I got these shells in the frozen fish section of my local supermarket. I was wondering if they were Meretrix meretrix or meretrix lyrata. Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks! Emma. Re: Meretrix lyrata? - dave r - 01-31-2013 Hi Emma. With those ribs they will be Meretrix lyrata. All the others of the genus are smooth. Dave Re: Meretrix lyrata? - Emma - 01-31-2013 Thanks Dave! I thought they probably were, but I wasn't sure. Re: Meretrix lyrata? - dave r - 02-12-2013 You are always welcome Emma. They are farmed commercially and shipped all over the world. Mine came from Washington! |
