Limpet-shaped coral object? - wateryworld - 04-29-2012

Hello!  I have this odd looking little specimen that, from the top, looks vaguely similar to a holed limpet, but from underneath, looks like a coral!  Any ideas on this strange thing?  Thanks! Smile

Looks like a species of Barnacle to me.

Yes, definitely a barnacle.  This is a crustacean, more closely related to shrimp than to mollusks.

Wow, I'd originally thought of possibly being a barnacle as well, but then ended up thinking against it, ha!  Thanks a bunch!  ;D
