Which siliquaria? - Emma - 03-12-2012

Hello again!

These two siliquaria specimens are from the Philippines, but I don't know what they are. Can anybody help? I can provide better photos if this is the problem.

Best wishes,

Emma.

Kind of tough identifying species where the shape is so variable.  But there are some characteristics that are fairly constant within a species, and based on that I'd guess Siliquaria anguina for the smooth white one, and Tenagodus trochlearis for the other one.

Thank you so much Paul!!  Big Grin I had posted this photo a couple of times before with no luck. So, I can finally close the case. I thought the whiter one was S. anguina, but I knew the darker one couldn't be the same shell.

Best wishes and thanks again!

Emma.
