A question about Natica tigrina distribution? - Emma - 03-04-2012 Hello, A Bangladeshi man recently gave me a Natica tigrina which he says is from Bangladesh, is this possible? He also gave me a C. eglantina, supposedly also from the same location. Does anybody know? Many thanks, Emma. Re: A question about Natica tigrina distribution? - paul monfils - 03-05-2012 Though I have never seen a specimen from Bangladesh, I have seen specimens from both India and Thailand. Since Bangladesh is between India and Thailand, it would be reasonable to expect that the species occurs there. I have never heard of Cypraea eglantina occurring in the northern Indian Ocean. Are you sure it is eglantina and not grayana? Re: A question about Natica tigrina distribution? - Emma - 03-08-2012 Thanks Paul! I'm pretty sure it's an eglantina, as it is elongate and nothing like the grayana I have. I'll have to post a picture and see what other people think. Best wishes, Emma. |
