Stramonita haemastoma (Muricoidea: Muricidae: Rapaninae) - JackSullivan - 08-04-2018

A long time interest of mine is in the ancient dye Tyrian Purple, made by oxidizing precursor chemicals extracted from thousands of predatory sea snails found in the Mediterranean. This brightly colored example (I believe from Tunisia) caught my eye. I have several European collectors sending me pix & quotes for other examples. 74 mm.
F+++/GEM quality.
