Caveat emptor: eBay seller image fakery? - JackSullivan - 08-14-2017 I buy shells via eBay from a number of dealers around the world & have found them mainly to be honest in their description of what they are advertising for sale. So I was somewhat disappointed when I unpacked the Conus viola whose eBay images I have already posted. The actual physical shell is not what is shown in the eBay listing. Some form of image manipulation appears to have been used, such as coating the shell in mineral oil to make it appear shiny when in fact it is not. This seller has had some negative feedback but not for image manipulation. I would be reluctant to use the eBay image if I should want to resell this cone. Jack |
