Very small juvenile Thais species I would say.

Re: more shells to id. - diocrisseashells1000 - 06-21-2011

hi dave! im glad that you answered my post.
you said it is a thais specie, maybe you are right but will you also consider if it is a nucella specie? coz i think it is more like it, (i guess).and also i dont think it is a juvenile. the features of the shell are looks matured, the size is 23-25 mm.
(point of view) ; i am no expert about the seashells but i have some ideas that tells me if it is a juvenile or not, and the specie is in my collections.
  cheers,
              diocris.

Re: more shells to id. - dave r - 06-21-2011

To me it looks like it has had a large protoconch broken off. A large protoconch on a shell this size says to me a juvenile. Also a mature Nucella species tends to have a thickened lip.
I am no expert but I have been collecting and studying shells for over 40 years.
