Shell/shell fragment found in Turks and Caicos - Kirah - 06-19-2017 Could you please help me identify this? Thank you very much! RE: Shell/shell fragment found in Turks and Caicos - PaulMonfils - 06-19-2017 This is an upper valve of Dendostrea frons. The lower valve is quite different, having fingerlike projections by which the shell attaches to sea fans and other objects. For that reason, upper valves wash ashore much more commonly than lower valves. Common names - Frons Oyster or Coon Oyster.
