Identification - Abdul Azeez Abdul Hakeem - 07-01-2014 Please identify the shell Measurements are in cm RE: Identification - paul monfils - 07-04-2014 I figured this was an Engina (family Buccinidae), but finding a match for it proved to be quite a challenge. I compared it all the Engina species I am familiar with, but no luck. I finally stumbled onto a couple of images that may be a possible match. Engina albocincta Pease 1860 is as close a match as I could find. I'm still not 100% certain, but it's the closest I could find. Your specimen certainly has the characteristic that gives this species its name. "albocinta" means "white-banded" or "white-belted". http://www.femorale.com.br/shells/photo.asp?idconcha=2893&cod=1091&url=%2Fshells%2Fthumbpage%2Easp%3Ffamily%3Dbuccinidae%26cod%3D1091%26nav%3D1 RE: Identification - Abdul Azeez Abdul Hakeem - 07-04-2014 Thank you very much for the clarification Thank you very much for the clarification |
