I found a few starfish that were extremely dried from the sun . I'm wondering what would be the best way to get rid of any smell from them without damaging them ?

Hi,  What "I" would do is soak them in formalin solution for a couple of days, then in several changes of clean water for 24 hours, then in 70% alcohol for a couple of days, then dry them in a well ventilated area, preferably outdoors but not in direct sun.  However, "I" work in a research laboratory where i can easily obtain chemicals like formalin, and I am experienced in using such chemicals.  For those who might not have access or experience with such potentially hazardous chemicals, soaking the starfish in "rubbing alcohol" from the pharmacy, used full strength right from the bottle, for 24 hours or longer, then air drying, should take care of any lingering odor.
