Phyllonotus pomum - FORMS - pilsbryi - 04-22-2009

Phyllonotus pomum it is one of those kind of shells that are commonly found all over the caribbean coast. I tried to build up a growth and geographical series.

Usualy dont get over 100 mm nowadays, and besides this point are scarce.

Larger specimens come from Martinique and Guadeloupe Isl., are dark brown in color.

For anyone interested in the photos, i just got a 118.5 mm one, from Martinique, with operculum.  year - unknown ; depth - unknown.

It is harder to find one as this than most zoilas, i can tell .

Kind regards
