Is Cypraea Ostergaardi Extinct or Still Alive? - cowryman3sai - 12-17-2007

From some of the pictures I've seen this cypraea is one of the most beautiful cowries in the world. It would be my hope that it simply is very elusive. <img src="images/smiley/rolleyes.gif" alt="" border="0" />

Hi Robert, yes Erosaria ostergaardi is still around, if you have the money! I brought a specimen of this little Hawaiian endemic a couple of years ago now, it was in 'Fine' condition so not too expensive. They don't often come on to the market in the condition you see in Lorenz's book though, they are usually dead collected.
