Hi,
I cannot place the specie of the shell below.
It is from Mauritius (Western Indian ocean) and sizes 57mm.

Hi
Oliva tigrina f. glandiformis --Last edited by Ràzgriz on 2010-03-24 21:58:48 --
It is a bit large and a bit slender but that is the nearest I can get too. Could be a miniacea tremulina form, I would need to look closely at the columella to be sure.
Dave.
Thanks,

Dave, here is a close-up on the columella

Thanks Pierre, looking at the columnela I would say Oliva miniacea tremulina f. tenebrosa.
Dave
You can cut it down to Oliva miniacea tremulina, tremulina is now a subspecies of miniacea. The forma name tenebrosa just tells us it is the brown colour form, you can leave it out if you want.
Dave
Thanks Dave.
Hum, isn't it a bit long for a specie name ? Can I cut it down for O. minicea ? or O. tremulina ?
Thanks for these informations. Pierre
