Hi all. Some years ago I`ve travel to Costa Rica and I collected a nice set of seashells. Rafa made a lot of posts for identifications that where very usefull to me. Thanks Rafa and all the people who answer him

But my problem is that I`ve collected 5 or 6 Pitar dione like bivalves. The problem is that I collected them in Tamaarindo beach, in the pacific coast, and as far as I know Pitar dione is a caribean Species.

I`ve one spectacular specimen and a set of others not so well preserved. I think it should be another species than Pitar dione, because of his distribution and I think that it is not so exactly than the photos and descrïptions of Pitar dione.

I let you a picture:

I'd say this is Pitar lupanaria, which is a pacific coast species related to Pitar dione.

You can find a picture here: http://zipcodezoo.com/Key/Pitar_Genus.asp --Last edited by mikede on 2008-02-11 21:52:37 --

Hi Auxi.
I am agree with "mikede". I have some Pitar lupanaria species and are the same that your pictures. My bivalves are from Chile coast and I have another from Manuel Antonio (Copsta Rica).
