I have over 150 seashells that my father collected from his travels 15 years ago, he was an engineer on an ocean boat, so he would collect many shells from each location over the years, but he has no idea where each shell came from. could you please help me identify these shells and i would also like to know if they are rare and maybe what they are worth!!! any help would be greatley appreciated. thank you chastidy. http://www.badongo.com/pic/1348050 http://www.badongo.com/pic/1348181 --Last edited by chastidyllaws on 2007-08-26 21:06:22 --
Conus litteratus, Lettered Cone, Western Indo-Pacific area, Philippines is the most common source, value in prime condition $5.00 to $10.00

I would suggest taking some group photos, maybe a dozen shells in one picture. One pic showing straight on bottom views of the shells, another showing straight on top (dorsal) views of the same shells. That would save a lot of time and work, and usually that is sufficient to get an ID if the pictures are sharp. --Last edited by Paul Monfils on 2007-08-26 21:17:14 --
