Chicoreus orchidiflorus Shikama 1973

A small delicate shell named after the exotic flower 'orchid', with 8 gently sloping whorls, sculptured with 3 varices per whorl, and a fine spiral striae, characterised by the presence of beautiflly serrated fronds, those on the earlier whorls smaller and tabulate, later ones becoming seperated; aperture ovate, outer lip erect, columella smooth with a parietal denticle, canal long, recurved and almost closed.

Colour whote to lovely soft pinkish brown. This is considered as a rare species and only found in the Camotes Sea. Measures 31mm.
