Full Version: What is it's name

Could you help me to identify it? I really want to know it's name.

It is the empty shell or 'test' of a seas urchin. In life it is covered in spines, the hole you can see there is where its mouth was.
From what I can see there is a lot missing from the top, did you find it broken like this?
I can't give a species name as it is not a Mollusc and that is what I specialise in, but you should be able to google it up now.

Thanks!!! I found it in Hong Kong.
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with species from that area.  I asked because your specimen looks a lot like the base of a species that is found here in the N.E. United States.  But it must be something different.
