Hello - I am trying to clear up a question that has me stumped regarding the range/distribution of Lambis (Harpago) rugosus. Between New Caledonia and the Society Islands, this species is absent. The distance from say Noumea, New Caledonia to Papeete, Tahiti is nearly 4610 km, almost the breadth to the United States of America from coast to coast. Could it be that this species has been overlooked in the intervening area, or are there two separate population pools? Any information that anyone might have concerning this would be appreciated.
