Hi

Please could you help identify this.

We picked it up on the beach at Stilbaai, South Africa.

It is about 10cm by 14 cm.

This is Argonauta argo.  This is not a true shell, but actually an egg case or brood chamber of an octopus-like animal. It is often referred to as a "paper nautilus"  You can get more information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argonaut_(animal)
