I got a shell down in Nassau, and I didn't notice it then, but when I got home, I noticed it smelled pretty bad. Now my living room kinda stinks, anything I can do to clean the shell better than the seller did so that it doesn't smell anymore?
Sure. Â Mix some Chlorine bleach and water, about 1 part to 5. Â Lower the shell into the container with the apex (the pointed tip of the spire) pointing down. Â Leave it overnight. Â Then flush out the shell with fresh water, preferably with a pressure nozzle like a garden hose. Â Let it dry. Â All or most of the odor should be gone. Â If there is any residual odor you can repeat the process. Â The bleach will not affect the colors of the shell.
